5 European islands by private jets

August 22, 2017

We’re busy booking summer holiday flights for our clients in Europe. Particularly to destinations where demand for private jet travel is at its hottest.

Island destinations are always high on that list. Surrounded by sea, stunning views and often relatively hard to reach, there are many reasons private jet travelers like to leave the mainland behind.

Many island airports are under a lot of pressure from increased demand in the peak season – from both airline and private jet flights. And the potential for expansion is limited when there’s an ocean on all sides! So we recommend clients traveling to popular island airports to book further in advance than they might usually do, to secure preferred slot times and best aircraft availability.

Here are our five most popular European island destinations, and how to get there by private jet.

Ibiza

Ibiza becomes one of Europe’s hottest destinations in the summer months, with Ibiza Airport now one of the Top 20 busiest airports in Europe. With some of the most desirable nightclubs in Europe, the White Isle is a mecca for VIP partygoers, but also appeals to families and nature-lovers.

Mallorca

The largest of Spain’s Balearic islands and a perennial favorite with luxury travelers, Mallorca is Europe’s most popular holiday island for private jet travel.

It offers a winning combination of stunning beaches, excellent golf courses, and world-class hotels and restaurants (six of which are Michelin-starred). It’s also popular with those chartering a yacht and with second home owners.

Mykonos

Part of the Cyclades group in the Aegean, Mykonos is growing in popularity with luxury traveller. With beautiful unspoilt beaches, and a glamorous club scene attracting some of the world’s top DJs, there are many reasons to visit this stunning spot.

Sardinia

Private jet travelers flock to the Italian island of Sardinia in the summer months. As the second-largest island in the Mediterranean, it has three private jet airports: Olbia, Alghero and Cagliari.

Olbia’s glamorous Costa Smeralda region is particularly popular with luxury travelers, offering stunning natural scenery, white sand beaches, and connections with yacht charters.

Corsica

Just north of neighboring Sardinia, the French island of Corsica offers a stunning coastline and mountainous landscape. Like Sardinia, it is popular with yachting and sailing enthusiasts, and has a number of exclusive holiday properties and hotels.

Corsica has four airports for private jet travellers: Figari Sud Corse, Calvi, Bastia and Ajaccio. Figari is particularly popular in summer, for its proximity to the luxury resort of Porto Vecchio.

Mykonos

Part of the Cyclades group in the Aegean, Mykonos is growing in popularity with luxury traveller. With beautiful unspoilt beaches, and a glamorous club scene attracting some of the world’s top DJs, there are many reasons to visit this stunning spot.
